Our Team

We are a group of people seeking to raise public awareness of our history. Even though the group comprises of people from all walks of life ranging from professional artisans or teachers to IT specialists, we share one goal, and that is to positively influence the future by learning from history fulfilling the motto: “With respect to our ancestor’ heritage.”

Aleš Nový

Woodworking. Specialized in cooperage and wood turning with special focus on historical methods of processing the material. He was awarded the title “Master of traditional hand-crafted production of the Central Bohemian Region” for the year 2022. Production of functional historical technological equipment. Projects, research, design of technical solutions, photo and video documentation, team coordination.

Tomáš Kozel

Metalworking. Traditional blacksmithing. Specialized in forging metal tools and reproductions of wrought objects from the material cultures of the Middle Ages as well as early Modern times. He was awarded the title “Master of traditional hand-crafted production of the Central Bohemian Region” for the year 2023.

Vojtěch Vrtiška

Technology of historical painting and pigment preparation with main focus on manuscripts of the late Middle Ages. Production of facsimiles including calligraphy, illumination, and bookbinding. Maker of clothing and clothing accessories, mostly of the 14th and 15th centuries. Reconstructions of period cuisine of the Middle Ages and early Modern times.  

Mgr. Eva Nová

Specialized in historical textile technologies from the processing of raw materials to creating replicas of clothing from the Middle Ages to the Thirty Years’ War period. Making ceramics using historical methods. Teaching, research, team coordination.

Roman Urbani

Focused on creating replicas of authentic leather objects of the 14th – 17th centuries, especially shoes. Combined production of small items from wood, metal, leather and other materials. Specialized in clothing of the 16th and 17th century. Lecturer in our educational programmes, research, publications.

Jan Šmakal

Metalworking. Traditional blacksmithing. Production of wrought items from the Middle and early Modern Ages.

Ing. Jan Kozel

Woodworking. Specialized in historical turning methods and carpentry using period appropriate tools.

Milan Madlenák

Production of functional clothes of common people using historical methods with focus on early Modern times.

Mgr. Tomáš Koch

Study of the history of everydayness and material culture in terms of clothing of the period between 1550 and 1650. Maker of historical clothes from this era. Historian, curator, author of several articles on everydayness and military history aimed at experts as well as wider public. Author of the Erdhart 1645 project.

Jan Doskočil

Woodworking. Specialized in historical turning of vessels and objects of everyday use.

Štěpánka Tomášová

Specialized in processing raw textile materials, especially in spinning methods used in the Middle and Modern Ages. PhD student of cellular biology.

Jarmila Urbani

Specialized in historical textile technologies from processing raw materials to creating reproductions of clothing of the 14th – 17th centuries. Professional medical supervisor.

Helena Pecháčková

Specialized in hand-painted ceramics in the style of maiolica, tin-glazed earthenware, of the 16th and 17th centuries based on extant examples. Team representative for international communication.
